So not too much to report, but just a quick update.
Louis is getting there with the potty training. He certainly knows what he needs to do but is still fighting it a bit and holding as long as he can before eventually going, but the number of accidents are now far outweighed by the success in the potty. Hopefully he'll give in over the next couple of days and accept that this is the way it is going to be going forward. In the meantime it's very exhausting for us all!
We've found out that we have to have California driving licenses in order to get car insurance, and to get a driving license we have to take tests! Firstly, we need to take written tests and they will give us temporary licenses and then we have to take practical tests at some point. Apparently they are pretty easy here (and seeing how some people drive I can believe it!) and the sample written tests you can take online seem very straightforward.
We also filled the car up with petrol today. We were expecting it to cost quite a lot (even at $2.20 a gallon!) as the Audi has a huge tank and is relatively thirsty with the 2.8l engine. Putting nearly 14 gallons in came to just under $30 (£20)! Unbelievable. It would have been about £60 or £70 in the UK.
We have a long weekend coming up too. Simon is off work Thursday and Friday, and Monday is a public holiday here - Presidents Day (for Lincoln's Birthday) - so we'll have 5 days to sort things out and explore a bit. Looking in to preschools for Louis is probably something we need to address, but it would also be nice to go to the beach or the Aquarium at Monterey. It's a nice drive there too down the Pacific Highway, aka Route 1.
We'll post some more when we decide what we are going to do.

Sorry to hear that you have to take driving tests but we're sure you will be fine.
Well done Louis on your potty training.
Enjoy your few days together doing exciting things or just relaxing!!!
Lots of love to you all xxxx
Well done on the potty, Louis! And if Simon and Kate could just send a spot of "gas" over to England, it would make running my car a bit cheaper....
Have a lovely weekend with Lincoln (does this mean you have to get a cake for him with 2008-1809=199 candles)? He was your 16th President, you know...
Except its 2009, so it would be 200 candles!
That will be fun taking your driving tests again. Find out your bad habits. Grandad says keep using the potty Louis and then you will be a very good and clever boy.Hope you enjoy your long weekend and do a bit of exploring.
Love and God Bless.XXX
