Just a couple of pictures from Sunday...

Here are a couple of pics I took on Sunday on my phone. I'll post the others from the camera when I get a chance to download them.

Packing up...

That's it then! The chaos continued today when the packers arrived and starting blitzing the house. We've tried to keep out of the way as much as possible and kept everything we want to travel with in a single room that they're not touching.

It was really nice (but also sad) to see everyone yesterday. While it was chaotic and slightly crazy, it was the only way we were going to get to see everyone before we go, so thanks all for coming. As soon as we get a chance, we'll post some pics from yesterday so you can get copies, but if you all have any, please email them to us as we didn't take as many as we wanted to.

The house is probably about 90% packed now and the team are still working. They'll be back in the morning to pack the last few things (beds etc.) and will then load everything in to the container. We'll then decamp to a local hotel while the house is cleaned and then head up to Heathrow on Wednesday to stay there that night.

We'll try to keep this updated as much as possible as we make progress but this week is going to be a little tricky.

Looking forward to seeing you all when you visit. You know it's not that far really....

Moving schedule

So now everything is in place, we've been putting together a schedule of what needs to happen and when, and here it is.

  • Saturday 24th January - Louis is having a Birthday party with his little friends.
  • Sunday 25th January - Open house at our place. The idea here is that anyone who wants to can drop in throughout the day and stay for as long as they wish. It might be a little bit hectic, but it will be nice to see everyone before we go. The other objective will be to eat/ drink/ give away everything left in our house that we can't take with us, so prepare for some random food combinations! More details of this to follow.
  • Monday 26th January - Our removals people arrive and pack everything in our house.
  • Tuesday 27th January - Removals guys come and load the container and take it off to the port for shipping. We'll stay in a local hotel this night.
  • Wednesday 28th January - We'll get the house cleaned and ready to hand over to the lettings agent. In the evening, we'll head up to Heathrow and stay in a hotel that night.
  • Thursday 29th January - We're booked on VS19 that leaves at 9.30am.
  • Friday 30th January - Ship set to sail from Thamesport to Oakland California.
  • Sunday 1st March - Container ship due to arrive in Oakland.
At shortly after this, and for the foreseeable future, we'll be expecting lots of house guests in sunny California!
